A Conversation with Mary Anne Cook, Grief Counselor and Spiritual Director

You might be wondering how the topic of grief and loss got tucked into a conversation about nourishment. I think it is amazing it isn’t mentioned more often, especially when it comes to making changes in our lifestyle habits. The unfinished business of loss, whether old or new, big or small can color our thoughts and experiences, potentially forever. When left unfinished, it doesn’t allow for the healing needed to start a new path.

I’m delighted to have my colleague, Mary Anne Cook, from the San Francisco area join us today. Mary Anne is a seasoned grief counselor and life transition specialist. With a background in counseling, mindfulness, and creative arts, she offers a unique and holistic approach to her work. Mary Anne holds a diploma in Spiritual Direction, is trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and earned an MFA in Acting from NYU. She has over 15 years of experience, working with individuals and groups in various settings, including churches, hospice care, and organizations serving those in need.
